PHOTOVILLE TALK
September 27, 2020

Jennifer McClure will speak about her personal work and how she has used photography as an emotional lifeline during this pandemic. She has been documenting her family and herself since the beginning of the quarantine, from the early days of complete isolation to the recent navigation of new routines. Making pictures daily began as a way to pass the hours spent inside with a young child. Jennifer looked for magic and escape and tried to experience this strange new world through her daughter’s eyes. The act of photographing became a way to manage the anxiety and sadness, a way to stay fully present. She continues to photograph her family as they slowly step out of their quarantine bubble. She will discuss both the emotional and technical components of creating a visual diary like this during uncertain times.
This Leica Conversation is presented in partnership with Photoville.
